This is a young but ruthless member of the international crime syndicate, the Cabal.

Name: Claire Hsu
Affiliation: Cabal
Attributes:
Melee: 45
Reflex: 30
Power: 15
Rifog: 20
Acumen: 25
Observation: 20
Will: 45
Life: 110
Karma: 90
Abilities:
Combat Proficiency: Melee Weapon: Morningstar has trained in an unnamed martial art for several years, offering her the following bonuses: +1CS to strike, +2CS to dodge and +2CS to grapple or parry. She has trained extensively using dual spiked flails. When using these weapons, she gains the added advantage of no dual-weapon penalty, making each attack separately but performed as a single action.
Sonic Manipulation: Morningstar has learned a tribal technique handed down from generation to generation of female warriors, involving the soft modulation of high-octave vocal tones, which sounds audibly like quiet humming. The target must make a Yellow Will Save or become entranced and distracted by the sounds, and suffer -3CS in defensive actions. The effect lasts until a successful Will Save is performed, attempted once per round.
Psychic Link: Morningstar has discovered an innate psychic link with the creature dubbed Bellicaust, and is the only person it obeys. The link is of 40 IV, and is not consciously maintained.
Note: As a supernormal, Morningstar receives no posthuman physiological advantages.
Origin:
Morningstar studied a rare form of martial arts that has no name and is practiced only by a small sect of monks and nomadic tribesman in a remote region of Mongolia. She was raised to be a fighter from a young age, as her tribe’s reputation was for a long string of successful female prize-fighters who competed in seasonal contests against the champions of neighboring tribes. Morningstar’s specialty was the mace-and-chain [spiked flail,] and soon Hsu … Read on for more awesome…

TRDL Tribute: Big Barda
07/09/05

This piece was listed in an auction on the Bendis Board Charity Auction to benefit the victims of hurricane Katrina. The winning bidder, Robert, went on to be one of my repeat clients, so it worked out well for everyone!
This was done for the This Week Jam, though retroactively. It was drawn on the white sandy shores of the Mayan Riviera… I haven’t drawn Big Barda before, but she always was one of the coolest of the Kirby women in the DC universe to me, whenever I came across her. Maybe there’s something to the powerful woman thing, but she has always had the presence, to me, that DC wants Wonder Woman to have. Physically imposing, unimpressed, confident and sexy. Anyway, this was clearly a fun one to draw.

Draconia is the leader of the villainous crew, the Cabal.

Draconia
Name: Fiona McDonnel-Green
Affiliation: Cabal
Attributes:
Melee: 30
Reflex: 40
Muscle: 20
Vigor: 30
Acumen: 20
Observation: 20
Will: 10
Life: 120
Influence: 50
Powers:
Armor Skin: Draconia’s bio-armor is permanently fused to her body. It protects her from physical attacks [30 AP], energy [40 AP] and thermal attacks [40 AP], and psionic attacks [20 AP]. Her physical sensitivity is also reduced, and only restored, and heightened, while enjoying the positive effects of a bio-energy feeding. The armor’s edges are sharp and jagged, constantly growing and mutating, and can cause damage [10 DP] on unintentional or grapple-based contact. It also regenerates at a rate of 10 points per day.
Sonic Generation: Draconia’s vocal chords have been irreparably damaged by the bio-engineering process, and her natural speech is multi-octaved and discordant. She may emit a high-frequency screech [30 IV; 30 RV], that renders opponents stunned if a Will Action isn’t made. She will also shatter normal, safety, or wired glass within power range, and cause damage [30 DP] on high-technology glass composites.
Disintegration: Draconia’s bio-engineered armor creates a molecular disruption field around it’s extremities, meaning that matter in close proximity to her hands, feet and head is weakened. Her boots are elevated to reduce the passive effect on her walking surface. During a physical attack, Draconia’s armor may cause inorganic matter to begin to disintegrate at the point of impact. On a successful hit, the inorganic target, including body armors and technology-based opponents, loses figurative Life equal to her power’s intensity value [30 IV]. The effect is permanent.
Bio-Vampirism: an unfortunate side effect of the bio-mutation process is a continual loss of bio-energy. Draconia loses 1 pt of Muscle, … Read on for more awesome…

Lenin’s Hammer is another armored character, which I clearly love to design. There’s just something about the idea of this guy taking shots until enough of the armor is destroyed that the wearer is exposed and vulnerable. As with many TRDL Universe characters, it’s the origin story that really gets me interested in the character.

Lenin’s Hammer
Name: Yuri Jenov
Affiliation: Cabal
Attributes:
Melee: 20
Reflex: 20
Muscle: 30
Vigor: 40
Acumen: 30
Observation: 20
Will: 10
Life: 110
Influence: 60
Abilities:
Fighting Proficiency: Jenov was an accomplished career military officer before entering the armor prototype program, and a working knowledge of military tactics and operational expertise [20 IV]. He also is a well-trained hand-to-hand combatant, and earns +1CS when engaged in melee combat. He has trained extensively with the Hammer of Lenin, and earns +2CS when using this weapon specifically.
Hammer of Lenin: this hand-to-hand weapon was forged in an experimental alloy that grants it a material strength of 50 points. He can use it as a bludgeon weapon [40 DP] or as a missile weapon [30 DP] though it is not auto-recoverable. No attack under the material strength causes damage to the weapon, and the armor rank does not degrade as the weapon takes damage. The weapon’s figurative Life is 75 points.
Life Support: the exo-skeleton Jenov wears offers 72 hours of complete life support before requiring service. It is hardened against extreme temperatures and pressure [up to 30 AP], but has never been tested in the vacuum of space or at deep oceanic depths.
Body Armor: the exo-skeleton provides resistance to physical attacks [30 AP], energy attacks [30 AP], and to thermal attacks [40 AP]. The armor’s figurative Life is 240 points. When attacks penetrate the … Read on for more awesome…

Bellicaust is sort of the heavy hitter of a villainous team called the Cabal.
Concept and Art: Thom Chiaramonte
Abilities and Origin: Thom Chiaramonte
:::
Bellicaust
Name: n/a
Affiliation: Cabal
Attributes:
Melee: 30
Reflex: 20
Muscle: 50
Vigor: 50
Acumen: 5
Observation: 10
Will: 5
Life: 150
Influence: 20
Powers:
Combat Training: Bellicaust has undergone moderate combat training, in order to help him channel his violent, bezerker impulses. Only modest attack bonuses are gained from this training (+1 CS Melee Attacks with edged or blunt weapons) though if Bellicaust suffers a stun shock after more than half his Life has been depleted, his impulses will override his training, and he will lose the ability to use weaponry, and enter a violent, bezerker rage, which offers +1CS to Vigor, -1CS Reflex and Melee, and -1CS Observation. Only through direct intervention from his esper-minder, Morningstar, can control be re-asserted.
Hypersensitivity: Bellicaust suffers from under-developed or mutated sensory organs, which are extremely sensitive. Without his helm, he is rendered nearly incapacitated from pain and disorientation, and will only perform defensive attacks. The helm can be removed by applying a single or group Orange Melee Attack(s) causing more than 50 pts of damage simultaneously. However, while the helm is worn, Bellicaust remains hypersensitive, and can perceive motion, sounds, vibration and olfactory input [30 IV; 30 RV].
Hyperleap: Bellicaust has been trained to make impressive leaps, both as defensive escape strategy, and as an offensive attack, whereby he leaps up and then into a strike, which adds +2CS damage to his normal attack (weapon or physical) and forces a stun/shock save from the target. In order to complete this attack, he must make a Yellow Reflex Action.
Digging: Bellicaust’s hands are tapered and flanged, allowing for aggressive digging capability, through most materials. He can burrow … Read on for more awesome…
