Damocles is a free agent villain in the TRDL universe.
Concept and Art: Thom Chiaramonte
Abilities and Origin: Thom Chiaramonte
:::
Damocles
Name: Mick Flannery
Affiliation: n/a
Attributes:
Melee: 30
Reflex: 20
Muscle: 10
Vigor: 20
Acumen: 10
Observation: 10
Will: 5
Life: 80
Influence: 25
Abilities:
Energy Generation/ Control: Flannery’s latent energy generation ability manifests as an energy-based edged weapon. It can be conjured at will, and cannot be damaged or destroyed. If Flannery is rendered unconscious or killed, the weapon disintegrates. Melee attacks cause strength energy damage [30 DP]. Any electrical componentry within 1 area may be destroyed (gm rolls Yellow or higher on 30 IV) automatically.
Force-Field: all ranged and melee attacks are automatically parried by Flannery’s energy weapon, which offers protection against physical attacks [20 AP], electrical [40 AP], and energy based attacks [40 AP]. It provides no protection from thermal based attacks whatsoever. This automatic protection only applies if the weapon has been generated prior to the attack. On ambush, Flannery may attempt to instinctively conjure the weapon by making a Red Will Action. If successful, the force field provides half protection in that round.
Regeneration: Flannery draws life energy directly from the weapon. During combat, he may recharge to full Life three times. Each time, the player must elect to do so at the beginning of the turn, prior to rolling initiative. However, this regeneration is temporary, and comes at a price. At the end of combat, all regenerated health is lost, and Flannery must heal normally. The obvious danger here is that if he has regenerated in excess of his total health cumulatively, or is already wounded at the close of battle, incapacitation or capture, the resulting Life loss may kill him.

Not much is known about Mick Flannery’s early years. His … Read on for more awesome…

Hello, comerados
The current ‘theme jam’ on ECC (ecc@elistas.com) is ‘Literary Lovelies’ or characters from fictional novel sources.
I chose to do what became, after I read it the first time, my ‘fantasy girl’ I suppose… Amy Shaftoe from Neal Stephenson’s Cryptonomicon. If you haven’t read this book, it’s very hard to explain, but it’s a generation jumping tale of military misinformation campaigns in WWII, data havens in the near near future, Nazi gold recovery in the Philippines, the invention of the digital computer, and more. The character Amy Shaftoe is a half-Filipino, half-Caucasian woman, tall and buff, who is a treasure diver in Manila Bay. Pretty damn awesome. Anyway, I don’t think I captured my mental image of her, but I took a fair pass at it, and at the very least, accomplished a pretty nice foot there.
Hope you like it! If you haven’t read the book, and want more info, try this: http://www.cryptonomicon.com/

TRDL Tribute: Jenny Quantum
01/10/05

This was done for the Jenny Jam on one of the art groups of which i am a member. I selected the jam subject, figuring it would give people some options to play with, given that this character is reincarnated every century in a different form… since I’d already done a fairly recent pic of Jenny Sparks, from the defining Authority line-up, this time I thought I’d take a stab at the 21st. century version of the character, Jenny Quantum. Unlike Jenny Sparks, who was born in Britain, Jenny Quantum is supposed to be of Chinese descent, the thinking on the writer’s part being that China will be the major player in the 21st c. just as Britain was in the 20th, at least early on, or so the logic went when Ellis started this whole thing. Anyhow, the character is pretty cool, and is taking center stage in the final issues of Brubaker’s Authority: Revolution.
There’s also a mildly naughty version, viewable in the Deviant Illustration Vault, so go check it out there if you like.
And yes, her head’s too big and her neck’s too long. Didn’t realize that until it was too late. hey, you’re still growing into your 20′s… that’s my excuse this time, anyway…
Enjoy!
