Hello all you talented folks out therein Forum land. If you’ll humor me, I’d like to ask you some questions about why and how you do what you do. So, please if you would like to answer, do. I’d greatly appreciate it.

So let’s get the ball rolling with an easy one:

What was the first piece you completed and said to yourself, “I made that?” (in a good way)? Why did you think this?

This week’s character, chosen at random, for the This Week Jam is Princess Ariel, from the 80’s cartoon Thundarr the Barbarian. I was inspired by the background material I was reading on the history of this show. I had no idea that Alex Toth designed Thundarr, while Kirby designed the rest of the lot. As I read, memories of watching this show were slowly detaching themselves from whatever buried recesses of my sub-conscious in which they were lurking, and I began to recall the fun devastated cities in each episode, as Thundarr and friends Princess Ariel and Ookla (“UCLA” apparently) traversed the barren ruins of Earth in the year two-thousand-WTF… and when I stumbled across this villain, Gemini (one of the few recurring villains on the show) I remembered being delighted as a youngster at his crazy two-face thing going on. Looking at Kirby’s character concept sketch for Gemini, it’s clear how much of Darkseid bled into his steez, so that’s obviously my inspiration for the dialog here. Anyway, hope you dig this blast from the past (at least for some of us)…
