r3Scene1 header TRDL Finit e Graphic Serial: Scene 01 Comments

If you followed this link from the bclickcommentsqgq5 TRDL Finit e Graphic Serial: Scene 01 Comments button in the Finit-e comic reader, then please do post your thoughts on what you’ve seen in Scene 01. I know it’s sure to be frustrating, to get into a string of sequential pages and then have it end… that’s the downside to publishing by scene or chapter instead of single pages… but understand that each Scene will be published in it’s entirety. Some are longer than others, and as you go, you may, I hope, be compelled to go back and re-read earlier Scenes. There’s straightforward storytelling and then there’s Finit-e. Hopefully, you enjoy the book and find the journey worth taking, as it’s definitely a journey book more than anything.

If, on the other hand, you HAVEN’T read the comic yet, and came here looking for it? Visit Third Rail Design Lab and click away!

The time approaches.

The new TRDL v2.0 site is a few days off. It’s in testing!

For the first time ever, I will have banner links in a special section. But only for forum regulars, collaborating artists, Friends of Robot and the like.

So, as such, many of you being all of the above, I’d like to invite you to submit to me yer banners.

Format: JPG, 468×60, 72dpi

(I offer to sizes of the TRDL banner so far, but the size above is what I’m using on TRDL v2.0)

Like so:

Please send to me via email

Also include your site web address for the link…

I’d like you all to fast-track these if possible. I should have asked sooner but i was head-under for awhile there.

And a tip: try to include the name of your site, assuming you own your own URL, in the banner itself. It helps with visual memory.

Give me a shout with questions!

th trdltr silenthill TRDL Tribute: Silent Hill

This was done for the VGS Group’s Silent Hill jam. Her hand bugs me, but I like the pose and the expression, and that background IS recreating a scene from the game.

th trdltr wunderdame TRDL Tribute: Wunderdame [TRDL Redesign: WW]

This was a TRDL redesign of Wonder Woman, positing that, for an Ultimatized version, she were to have been found first by a Nazi scout and not an American, and therefore groomed to be a fascist killing machine. I tried to give her some serious Amazonian ethnicity, not of a fabled island, but of South America. Proportion issues aside, I LOVE the design.

th trdltr wonderwoman TRDL Tribute: Wonder Woman [Golden Age]

This was a piece inspired by my finding a torn-out page of an old Wonder Woman comic (or reprint) in Mexico, in which she was wearing a similar garb. I was fascinated by this tear-out. Where did it come from? Why was it there for me to find? An ice cream (danger) was handed to me, wrapped in it. Surreal.

Still one of my favorite pieces. A small -press publisher contacted me about golden-age themed sequential work, but it fell apart due to funding uncertainties.

th trdltr warhawk TRDL Tribute: Warhawk

This was done for the This Week jam, the character being Warhawk from the Batman Beyond cartoon’s version of the JLA (I think the JLU.)

I love the look of this design, and thought it came together exactly as I imagined it. Very successful piece, in my eyes. The claw hands in the gauntlets were my favorite detail.

th trdltr warbird TRDL Tribute: Warbird

This was done for the This Week jam, the character being Carol Danvers. This was an early submission for me, but I was experimenting with the finish on her black costume, and fun with atmosphere.

th trdltr vixen TRDL Tribute: Vixen

This was done for the This Week jam, the character being Vixen from DC. I hadn’t seen much of her at the time of this jam, though I thought I remembered her from the original Suicide Squad. I chose this costume, then realized later how much the film version of Catwoman would steal from it, at least to me. Badly. Fun little scene, here. Watch those gold bars for hidden details!

th trdltr v TRDL Tribute: V for Vendetta

This was a fun little holiday-themed illustration, which i did after finally reading V for Vendetta. Actually, as it went, I started it WHILE reading it, intending it to simply be some playful cross-dressing on Evie’s part… but got to the end of the book and realized I accidentally got a little spoileriffic there, which influenced the dialog. I wish now that the timing had been such that I could have at least tried to make Evie look a little more like Natalie Portman than she does here.

th trdltr triad TRDL Tribute: Triad

This was done for the This Week jam, the character being Triad of the Legion of Super-Heroes. NOT into the character, not into the costume, AM into the concept of triplets hanging out, so I did what i could. Now, looking back, I would have gone a different route with it.
