TRDL Tribute – Kitty Pryde
10/12/06

This piece was done a few months ago, as a wedding gift for our man Snackboy and his Catgirl. We all know the man has a mean crush for Kitty Pryde, and is a fan of the Astonishing X-Men book (hence the word balloon script reference) so I wanted to capture a sense of the Kitty I used to love as a kid, sort of crossed with the slightly older, more confident Kitty Whedon has given us int he current title. So there you have it!

Bolter is a posthuman member of the multi-national rescue and relief team, Rampart.

Bolter
Name: Minnow King
Affiliation: Rampart
Attributes:
Melee: 10
Reflex: 20
Muscle: 10
Vigor: 20
Acumen: 20
Observation: 20
Will: 20
Life: 60
Influence: 60
Abilities:
Electrical Control: Bolter has the latent posthuman ability to control the ambient electrical energy around her [30 IV; 30 RV]. Her natural ability is to pull electrical energy towards her and absorb it physically, but has been trained to focus that energy into linear electrical strikes. She can create single strikes at full Intensity damage and range, or multiple strikes at -1CS damage per additional strike (ie. Three independent electrical strikes in the same round would each be at 10 DP each, but with all Actions are resolved at full Ability Intensity.) When angered or emotionally unstable, she has been known to unintentionally release electrical energy [10 DP] at random targets in her environment.
Invulnerability to Electricity: Bolter is invulnerable to electrical based attacks [150 AP]. She is also resistant to other energy-based attacks [10 AP].
Regeneration: Bolter heals at a rate of 10 points of Life per round by absorbing electrical energy from electrical power sources. This requires a successful Ability Action to locate and draw the energy from an external source.
Electrical Absorption: Bolter can draw electrical power from conventional power sources, in excess of her ability to convert it to health. She can withdraw up to 50 points of electrical energy, causing outages and overloading transformers, effectively causing area-effect power outages with equivalent range [50 RV]. However, she must release this energy in excess of up to 10 points converted to Life in that round, by discharging it … Read on for more awesome…

TRDL Tribute- Alex Wilder
05/12/06

This was done for the This Week Jam, the subject being the Runaways.
This remains one of my favorite comic series’ ever. EVER. I had to draw Alex because he was such an interesting figure, his style and look and complexity. If you haven’t checked the book out, do so immediatement!

TRDL Tribute- Harley Quinn

I told you I was working on these jams, even though I hadn’t yet had time to finish them before all the nuttiness got nutty. Anyway, I really like the strong design of this character, though cared less for the madcap persona. I like her better, once cautiously integrated into mainstream comics, with the sad, mad clown persona better. There’s something very intriguing about her background. Definitely another winner to jump over from the animation side of things.

This was done for the This Week Jam, the subject being Rogue from the X-Men. This is one of my favorite images of Rogue from any artist, Portuguese or otherwise. I never liked the Daisy Duke look for the character… until Joao got it so right.

This was done for the This Week Jam, the subject being Hercules, from the classic animated show. Joao got Cerberus in there, too, who was well known centuries before ‘Lost’ if you can believe it. We don’t know what he is, either.

This was done for the This Week Jam, the subject being Wonder Woman. This is one of my favorites of Joao’s tribute art. I’m sorry, Perez fans, but he OWNS this armor. If you look at the detail version you can see the gilded tracery in the metal itself. Amazing.
