Reflex: 40
Muscle: 20
Vigor: 55
Acumen: 30
Observation: 30
Will: 10
Health: 160
Karma: 70
Abilities:
Physiological Enhancements: Snow Leopard has been physiologically enhanced in several ways, allowing for increased Reflex, Muscle and Vigor, and seemingly tireless physical performance [ +2CS vs. Stun/Shock]. She naturally enjoys a form of telescopic vision [20 IV; 20 RV], and may perform incredible stunts of agility, most commonly in the form of tall leaps over considerable distances, causing the misperception of flight capability [20 IV; 20 RV]. She is extremely resilient to physical impacts, suffering wounds but rarely stunned or slowed by them. Her natural resistance to physical attacks offers 10 Armor.
Edged Attack: She employs a hardened bio-resinous weapon system bonded to her fingertips and canines, which are comprised of ridges of mono-edged sheets along the physical surfaces which can be lifted out of plane to form invisible microblades along the surfaces of her fingertips and teeth, but voluntarily flatten and soften when not in use. Her claws and teeth do 30 points of Damage to inorganic compounds and 20 points of Damage to organic material. When used in combination (a successful Orange Melee Attack) claw and bite damage will be compounded, effectively doubling her DP in that Action. This combined Attack does not trigger a multiple Action penalty.
Origin:
Very little is known about the Jade Talon posthuman program developed and operated as part of a national defense and foreign policy agency in Neo-Mystic China after the rise of national posthuman champions developed in the United States and Europe. The war of words between the Chinese and American governments spun so much propaganda into the collective consciousness over how the Posthuman Cold War between the two countries started, few foreign policy experts agree on the roots of the conflict. It is clear, however, that the Jade talon program was China’s response, or counterpart, to the American Posthuman Planning Directorate, though the posthuman development in China is believed to occur entirely within government facilities, whereas the American program relied initially on American-funded, third-party labs like the posthuman Development Initiative in Canso, Newfoundland. Additionally, while the United States initially only proffered a single, small team of powerful individuals in national defense (and offense,) the Liberty Group, followed by other teams later, the Chinese program remained secret well into the Liberty Group’s international rise to popularity and familiarity. Only once the Liberty Group began to be perceived as a military puppet of the American government, exercising dubious foreign policy under the guise of posthuman heroism, did the Chinese government reveal the existence of the Jade Talon. The name refers not only to the secret program that produces superhuman soldiers for the Chinese state, but the quad-centric organization of uniformed posthumans that nominally act in the country’s defense. Jade talon is unique in that it is represented by four distinct teams of posthumans, which serve quarterly according to the Neo-Mystic Chinese calendar, centered around the seasons. Each team is led by a season leader and a subordinate, and perform the role of national protectors in a primarily defensive capacity, warding off intrusions into Chinese airspace by foreigners of posthuman, or normal human, background, and protecting perceived Chinese interests abroad. In this way, they have quickly become seen as the Chinese version of the Liberty Group, with all of the negative implication that entails.
Maggie Low serves under the guise of Snow Leopard, season leader of Jade Talon – Autumn Team. Her background is unknown, though she demonstrates superb leadership and tactical skills, and is believed to have served in the Chinese military in some form of covert capacity. She is also one of the first Chinese national posthumans to be developed in the Jade Talon program, leading the first seasonal team to be announced to the international community. She has proven herself to be calm in combat situations, terse but intelligent in discourse, and seemingly disinterested in pleas for leniency from captured trespassers on Chinese soil, most famously in the New Formosa Bay incident, in which she beheaded the team leader of a British military intelligence group caught conducting surveillance by submarine off the coast of New Formosa. The event, which the Chinese are believed to have leaked to the international press themselves, was brutal, but effective. Her statement, simply translated: “Our kingdom is closed to you, forever.”
Though viewed by the American government as a hostile entity, and accused of crimes against humanity, Jade Talon is perceived differently in Europe and throughout the world. Some member countries of the European Union unofficially maintain relations with Neo-Mystic China, and while the EU does not recognize China as a friendly nation, few countries in that community side with the Americans in their hardline behavior in the Posthuman Cold War. Many countries in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa view the Neo-Mystic Chinese government as a less threatening response to troubling Western expansionist attitudes, in a way that the previous era of Communism was not. And in these countries, and among much of the world’s total population, Jade Talon is as popular as the liberty Group once was in the West, and other posthumans continue to be.
