© Darren Hiles (done using Bryce.)

Just like the Poser program that Vlad posted ages ago, Bryce 5.5 is being upgraded to 6.0 and DAZ is giving away the older version for free. Well for a registation anyway, no money is involved. On top of that they will let you upgrade to Bryce 6.0 for a measely $19.95 instead of the normal $49.95.

From DAZ Productions:

Create breathtaking realistic 3D landscapes and animations with DAZ 3D Bryce 5.5. The easy user interface simplifies the design process for a novice or the seasoned professional. Start out building or importing a landscape as impressive as the Grand Canyon. Populate it with buildings, people or any other object you create or from the extensive DAZ 3D library. The Light Lab provides you robust control over your sunsets, moonlight nights or high-noon ambiance. Tree Lab allows you to plant your landscape like the gardens of Versailles. You’ll have to register your copy of Bryce 5.5 on the publishers web-site to gain access to your free Bryce serial number.

Note: This is a very large (140MB) file and may take several hours to download via dial-up modem.

This link takes you to Cnet’s download page and then go here to register the program.

trdl chenkerov a TRDL Character factory, No. 33: Chenkerov

Chenkerov is the leader of a Russian national team of ‘science guardians’ called KODIAK.

:::

Chenkerov

Name: Nikolai Argunov
Affiliation: KODIAK

Attributes:

Melee: 30
Reflex: 30
Muscle: 20
Vigor: 20
Acumen: 20
Observation: 10
Will: 10

Life: 100
Influence: 40

Abilities:

Telekinesis: Mass Projectile: Chenkerov can telekinetically push very small particles at high speed. This ability is limited to moving mass of extremely small scale, limited to .24 millimeters, or the size of a moderately-massed granule of sand. He can push this mass in large numbers, and at speeds that allows the objects to pass through most material with devastating effect, and continue with minimal loss of inertia, for a modest distance. Oddly enough, Chenkerov’s ability does not seem to allow penetration of glass, an unusual liability, given the fact that his early projectile material was sand. Following the realization of this limitation, Chenkerov began using an artificial metallic-fibrous compound instead. Particles accelerated by Chenkerov can be thrown long distances [50 RV] causing 50 points of what is effectively edged weapon damage.. These particles ignore physical Body Armor, but have a low level of pass-through [5 IV]. In other words, they will cause full damage on non-armored targets, but against physical armor, only 5 points of damage will pass through to the victim, regardless of the Armor value.

Origin:

Nikolai Argunov was a member of a thirteen person attaché invited to the United States from a number of ‘friendly’ nations that supported the American use of the Liberty Group in international operations, and blocked sanctions proposed by China and it’s allies in the U.N. Security Council. These guests were invited to study, and if desired, participate in the American Posthuman Development Initiative [PDI] based in Canso, Newfoundland, with agreement by their Canadian ally. Intended to be a seeding mission, these … Read on for more awesome…

th trdltr monstergirl TRDL Tribute Monster Girl

This piece was done for the This Week Jam, the character being the beastie teen Monster Girl, from Young Heroes in Love.

I read the first issue of this series when it came out, being intrigued by the premise, and clearly the first cover, not really realizing it’s titular connection with a silver age book. It really wasn’t my cup of tea, artistically, though I would always be interested in comics that explore interpersonal relationships and more real-world social complexities for the spandex crowd. The objective in this piece was to draw Rita in both her normal costumed attire and some aspect of her transformation, so the teen emotional response to music seemed like a good excuse. “I will have no one ever.” That sort of maudlin Smiths stuff, which I love so dearly, myself. Anyway, I did a variant were the arm was in motion, but I liked the static snapshot better.

Hope you like her!

th trdltr elektra TRDL Tribute Elektra

This piece was done for the This Week Jam, the character being the Marvel anti-heroine, Elektra.

I drew Elektra a fair amount as a kid, being as enraptured by the loincloth as you would expect, but once she was killed and brought back to life, and started to become more of a ‘bad grrrl’ type for Marvel, i lost interest. I was always more intrigued by her as she was portrayed in the early Frank Miller Daredevil stuff, and certainly enjoyed Bill Z’s Elektra Assassin. As a tribute to an earlier iteration of the Ms. Natchios, I used the old white color scheme for her and played around conceptually with Logan’s healing factor, just for fun.

Hope you like her!

trdl nym a TRDL Character Factory, No. 32: New York Minute

New York Minute (N.Y.M.) is a former highly-decorated police officer, developed and trained by the government but now the self-styled ‘Defender of the Five boroughs’ and local hero in New York City.

:::

N.Y.M.

Name: Charles Pritchard
Affiliation: n/a

Attributes:

Melee: 20
Reflex: 30
Muscle: 20
Vigor: 30
Acumen: 20
Observation: 20
Will: 10

Life: 100
Influence: 50

Abilities:

Hyper-Acceleration: N.Y.M.’s latent posthuman ability involves the hyper-acceleration of his own body, which in and of itself does not provide significant locomotive benefit, as he has no ability to control the vibrations, and merely becomes intangible by vibrating at a frequency that is difficult to interface with at normal speeds. This does give him the ability to pass through solid objects and fluid bodies without harm, but at a very slow rate. However, a special technology developed for him, located in his boots, gloves and belt allow him to transfer a fraction of that accelerated mass energy by-product into kinetic power, propelling him and allowing him to make actions at high speed. He can fly and maneuver at high speed, and perform complex feats of agility while in motion. His skinsuit offers no additional resistance to injury beyond his enhanced physiology, but the sensitive components, ie. boots, gloves and belt, are protected with an Armor of 20 and a Core Strength of 10. Damage taken is processed by his body as a whole, unless specifically targeting these areas.

Phasing: NYM can phase through solid materials [up to 40 Structure] at a Speed of 5. He cannot carry passengers while phasing.

Flight: NYM can fly with no action penalties [30 IV; 30 RV, 20 Speed]. He can carry up to three passengers or 600 pounds while flying, though he suffers -2CS to his Reflex and Melee Actions when doing so.
