This commission was prepared for John Young, proprietor of the innovative P8tch concept. These are great, and you’ve possibly seen our posts about the product on the forum previously. Young creates square bar code patterns [ QR Codes] unique for each buyer, which are woven onto wickedly cool patches which you can sew onto your jacket, bag, etc… another suitably geeky cohort who sees the patch and recognizes the code can whip out a barcode scanner on a portable device, scan the code, and receive data (a website, a coupon, a media file, whatever) so it’s hard to get MORE obscure and geeky than this. I mean, I think it outgeeks even THINKGEEKs products. Anyway, Young has the ‘commando nerd’ concept as his mascot, originally designed as a guy in functional field fatigues with equipment, his patch, and glasses, etc. I had free reign on this one, so I drew today’s geek, which happens, thanks to geekdom being embraced by the cool crowd, to be a hot toddie!
