trdltr wwga a TRDL Tribute: Wonder Woman Golden Age Revisited

This was an illustration originally done in 2004, which was, I thought, a very successful period WW piece, and certainly my favorite of my own attempts at this iconic character. In fact, it’s release led to some discussion with two different publishers about doing some comic work on period superhero stories, neither of which ultimately felt like a good fit. However, I was recently inspired to redo the piece to contribute to the Wonder Woman Day 2008 charity auction. More on that can be found here. There were a number of things I wanted to change about the piece, but this was one of the few examples of where I wanted to redo it, but keep the majority of it the same, so I pushed the original inks to blueline, re-inked them, and made the necessary changes, which included more substance to the left arm and leg, refinements to the hair, an entirely new face, and changes to the hand and wrist holding the lasso, as well as new lasso itself. The result is very similar to what it looked like in 2004 in color and composition, but a much better illustration, I think.

You can see this illustration herein the TRDL Tribute Gallery.
