As you probably know, cycling is a huge part of my life. I have built and own several bikes, and I ride almost every day where possible. For years now, friends and I have been riding under the club name the Team Lope Tyre Clubbe. This year Ironlung and I are riding the AIDS Lifecycle 2010 event, from SF to LA, on fixed gear bikes. We held a fundraiser party at a cool bar in SF last weekend, and in preparation for it, I produced this poster, which was displayed at the bar itself, and on some nearby car windows (of guests) and even on Lung’s bike, Tumbler, parked out front; as well as in some shops and friendly establishments as promo material. Lung designed our 2010 official logo, the rad crest work up top. I pulled together the poster in an old timey format, hand drawing the bikes, and digitally drawing the telltale SF fog and Sutro Tower, etc in final assembly.

Each bike was hand-drawn, without technical guides. If I really wanted to make a big deal out of it, I’d have looked at the geometry specs for each frame, but I just worked from photos, and didn’t trace. This is evident in the proportion issues. These track frames aren’t easy to draw. hey sit at weird ‘pursuit’ angles, and have tight geometry. So after I drew them, I did have some photoshop work to do to make them look right, mostly scaling and some tweaking of wheelstay length and the rear triangle.
