When Steve Rogers was obviously returning to the Marvel Universe as a breather, I feared for my Bucky Cap. I’ve said it before: I like when the proteges inherit the uniforms of iconic heroes and do their best to live up to the brand but do it their own way (these days, I enjoy Bucky as Cap and Dick Grayson as Batman more than their mentors)… but despite the depressingly uneven Cap Reborn mini, Rogers didn’t (yet) re-inherit the Captain America mantle. He’s been positioned as a post-Nick Fury type of leader, given an AWESOME uniform, and put in charge of setting things back in order in the Marvel U. I’ve been itching to draw him ever since I saw his promo art for the new stuff.

I chose three combatants that have had a history with Rogers over the years. And had Rogers hand their asses to them. I’m especially amused by Rogers snatching Flagsmasher’s mace from hi and kicking him in the gut. Anyway, onward…

On this one, I took Steve’s face to completion (that doesn’t sound right) except for eyes which are always last…

There’s too much complexity in the detail work on the uniform to piece out, so i colored the main portion first and did the detail over it.
