 R3 Jam: Re-Re-Redesign Wonder Woman
Well, it's not news that Jim Lee did a redesign for Wonder Woman, as part of their new mainstreaming push to put DC in the modern era, and it's getting a lot of press, which is what they wanted. That said, this is our opportunity to take another pass at the redesign effort. So put yourself in his shoes. The challenge is the same: Redesign Wonder Woman to be more contemporary in appearance. What that means is up to you. You shouldn't feel the need to radically change her look (from whatever you consider her classic style, since that evolved over time) nor should you feel obligated to keep much of it. The theme is: a contemporary update. How you accomplish that is up to you. Have at it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonder_WomanNote: As always, this jam is open to all artists interested, in any media. Post your submission to the jam thread; If you have any problems, ping me directly and I'll set you up.

Re: CURRENT R3 Jam: Re-Re-Redesign Wonder Woman
Well, I don't dislike entirely Lee's design, I like the bracelets/gloves, the top isn't bad either. And well, being Wonder Woman (as well as Supergirl/Superwoman) one of my favorite drawing subjects, here are some pics I've done lately. First, TCatt's Erotic Earth design Attachment:

one battle suit version Attachment:

And with some rough color to give an idea of what I was thinking.

Really nice work guys. I was tinkering around with some possibilities whilst sat at the cafe this morning. We'll see how much I like the idea's in light of another day.

Re: CURRENT R3 Jam: Re-Re-Redesign Wonder Woman
These are all great. Marc, liking the flats so far! Interesting approach with the blue top.
I think what's fun about these updates is that it goes to the question: what does 'contemporary' mean? What in each case are we choosing to update or change and why? There's no wrong answer in my opinion (even Jim Lees)... It's just design.
Inks happening today for me, if my baby decides to nap!

Re: CURRENT R3 Jam: Re-Re-Redesign Wonder Woman
well,i see the direction they want the WW franchise to move, more to a possible movie (maybe by Joss Whedon ) ,than the jumpsuit and the jacket are working, especially looking at the second pic.
I always see WW more like a modern Xena, maybe with some leather,a few greek-ish props ,i´ll try and come later to a visualization.

Re: CURRENT R3 Jam: Re-Re-Redesign Wonder Woman
I'd love to see what you come up with. I don't think his black leggings were such a deal-breaker as some do. I thought the jacket was a disparate element, falling back to his usual design habits rather than being character-focused. But a reinterpretation and contemporary update of a classic design is always open to subjective value assessment. It's certainly not the disaster that some redesigns we've seen over the years have been!

Here's mine... All my process notes, including talking about the logic to this design, and a variant version, are found here: viewtopic.php?f=43&t=17082

Awesome work, Thom, I love the eagle on her chest!! It has a very distinctive TRDL air on it! Here are some more pics: this pic was done based on a design I found on Deviant Art Attachment:

This one was supposed to be Circe but what the heck: Attachment:
