Here's something I've been tripping off of recently, and I'll have to tell you why at a later date, but man, I don't know how you all do this shit so FAST. I know frequency breeds comfort, but sheesh. Every week each of you is banging out at least one drawing of a specific character for THIS forum (though I've seen a few of ya throw up to 4 out there), but then there's links to submissions on other forums, drawings of totally unrelated characters, talk of personal commissions... God DAMN, don't you people WORK?? Hahahahahaha.
In all seriousness, I guess I'm just trying to stroke a few egos or at least toss some admiration around from a cat who hasn't picked up a pencil in a looooooong time to do anthing other than thumbnail sketches of advertising concepts. Sigh. At least they're in proper perspective. No, but I miss just sitting down and working on a project till completion. All the frustration, all the joy of fixing that one fucking part that just doesn't work, blah blah blah, I'm preaching to the fucking choir over here.
Anyways, can't wait to see "This Week"s contributions!

I think of it like the range: the more you shoot, theoretically the better your aim. Brothah!

Troy: I especially like the blue outline 'keyline' behind her, and how the dinos are quizzically less than aggressive there. Cool pic!

Dude, all it takes is the first one to get you back into it. I were pretty much in the same boat as you about two years ago, and it two things to snap me put of it. First, I started drawing digitally, and it was like learning all over again. The second was the This Week. I kid you not, at first I was doing kind of half hearted pieces, but than, I started getting into it more and more, until I was loving the drawing thing again.
As I said, it starts with just one.

Just like crack. Hahahaha.
Wise words, all, and I appreciate the encouragement, especially from you, Vlad.
It's so true what you say about drawing digitally being like learning all over again. I've learned so many digital techniques over the past 6 or so years, just from work, that my entire approach to original art has morphed into something that I'd never thought was even an option. It's wierd. By way of an easy example, when I made my avatar there, it was a brief pencil sketch scanned in and traced in Illustrator, then supplemented with all the ooze and smoke and whatnot. But then you go back to the oldschool way, just a pencil, a lightbox, and a half dozen Rapidograph pens, and you're like "Uhhhhhhh. What?" Wierd. Forget all the years of figure drawing, forget all the years of goofing off on the back of high school textbooks, you sit down after long enough of a hiatus and you're stymied!
One day, I'll actually do a drawing for this here fine forum. And hopefully, it'll just take one.

the Pipe/ooze, along with the corrigated tin building she's coming out of are just to underline the time frame, ie. Modern world W/ Dinos, vs. her being a prehistoric "Jungle girl". All in all, the 'cover' was supposed to evoke a tad of the Matt Baker Golden Age Jungle Girlness, and yet still get across it's Shanna.
Really, sometimes a Pipe is just a Pipe.
