This Watchmen series of illustrations was borne from a commission sketch of "Silk Spectre at her prime" which is kind of funny because the character logic for her archtype is specifically an older, middle-aed woman struggling with the fine line where the outfit and the innuendo and all the gimmicks don't quite make sense in the harsh light of reality, and yet she finds her identity in the wake of that realization. If you haven't read Watchmen, do so immediately. To explain it would require a five-paragraph essay. Back to Silk Spectre: this version of the character was intended to be Laurie in her early twenties, actually pulling off the hot super-hooker look. After doing this sketch, I was inspired to continue to draw the rest of the Minutemen, albeit in their age and condition at the time of the series.
