This series of X-Men illustrations began as a commission sketch, and developed into a sketch series for the entire team, as designed by Frank Quitely for New X-Men during his run with Grant Morrison. Once I saw the m in a preview, I thought these redeasigns were awesome, and couldn't wait to draw them... and prompltly filed the source material away and never got to it.

This is my first attempt ever to draw Emma Frost, though obviously I've enjoyed the character in the X-Books since I first encountered her in the early Hellfire Club stories, thanks to John Byrne's dedication to lingere details... ah to be 12 again... anyway, Emma's uniform was th emost talked about revamp in the Quitely-NXM line-up, thanks to her gravity and inertia defying reverse pastie action. I thought it looked striking and clever, damn the violations of the Laws of Physics! The crisp, thick white leather and zippers has been one of my favorite looks for the character, though admittedly I haven't seen her illustrated very sexy in this guise, Adam Hughes' efforts notwithstanding. Her X-Men Reloaded look, as designed by John Cassiday, is much stronger overall, however.
