COMBAT ADVANTAGES: MORPHINE'S PROFICIENCIES ARE REFLECTED IN HER FIGHTING AND AGILITY ATTRIBUTES. IN ADDITION, SHE GAINS A +1CS BONUS VS STUN/SHOCK FROM HER EXPERIENCE IN ROLLING WITH IMPACTS, AND MAY ATTACK, AND DEFEND AGAINST, MULTIPLE TARGETS IN MELEE COMBAT WITHIN HER REACH, WITHOUT PENALTY.
BODY ARMOR: MORPHINE WEARS A B-MESH SKINSUIT THAT PROVIDES EXCELLENT PROTECTION FROM ENERGY AND TEMPERATURE ATTACKS, AND GOOD PROTECTION FROM BLUNT AND EDGED ATTACKS. IT IS REGENERATIVE AND DOES NOT TAKE DAMAGE.
OPIOID SECRETION: MORPHINE RELEASES AN OPIOID COMPUND FROM THE PORES OF HER HANDS AND FEET CONTINUOUSLY. SPECIAL ABSORBANT PANELS IN HER BOOTS AND GLOVES CONTAIN AND DILUTE THE COMPOUND. A SOFT-TAB BUTTON ON EACH WRIST ALLOWS THE OPIOID TO BE RELEASED FROM MICROPORES IN HER GLOVES, ALLOWING HER TO UTILIZE IT IN PHYSICAL STRIKES, OR BY ANY TACTILE CONTACT. SHE CAN ALSO TRANSFER IT TO OTHER PARTS OF HER BODY, INCLUDING HER LIPS AND FACE, AND DISTRIBUTE IT ACROSS HER SKINSUIT'S SURFACE. ANYONE IN CONTACT WITH THE COMPOUND WITHIN 10 ROUNDS OF IT'S GENERATION MUST MAKE AN ENDURANCE SAVE VS. POISON OR SUFFER SYMPTOMS SIMILAR TO AN OPIATE OVERDOSE, WITH ALL ATTRIBUTES HALVED, STUN/SHOCK SAVES REQUIRED EVERY ROUND, AND A RISK OF SYSTEM SHOCK REQUIRING AN ADDITIONAL ENDURANCE SAVE EVERY THREE ROUNDS WUBSEQUENT TO THE INITIAL CONTACT, OR LAPSE INTO A COMA REQUIRING MEDICAL TREATMENT. SHE MAY ALSO APPLY A REDUCED AMOUNT OF HER COMPOUND TO BE USED AS A SUGGESTIVE AID, AGAINST WHICH HER TARGET MUST MAKE A PSYCHE FEAT OR BECOME EASILY COERCED. MORPHINE IS IMMUNE, NOT ONLY TO THE EFFECTS OF HER OWN SECRETION, BUT TO MOST INTOXICATING CHEMICAL AGENTS.

Ximen Ling enjoyed a profitable career at a young age as a stunt model in Hong Kong’s thriving film industry, demonstrating a singular affinity for the athletics, gymnastics and martial arts choreography she was taught, proving herself to soon be more popular to the fans than the actresses for which she doubled. She never shared with anyone her mysterious secret: the ability to secrete an opiod from her fingers and toes, seemingly untraceable or detectable, with considerable potency. Ashamed by her alienating irregularity, she forbid herself to allow it to be used, always wearing gloves and socks in public. After an It-girl actress pulled strings to have her fired from her last film, Untouchable Golden Pain Weapon II, she continued with her martial arts studies, and through her dedication and natural talents, rapidly achieved impressive experience in several forms.
Still in her teens, she found work as a bounty hunter, working the white collar crime scene, slowly learning to use her beauty, charm and acting skills to seduce or disarm her skip target, then, when necessary, sedating them with her secretion, applied to her lips or through her touch. And of course, when required, she physically detained them. She found the business both profitable and exhilarating, looking forward to the opportunity to exert physical effort and non-lethal sparring with increasing interest.
In her fourth year in the business, underworld agents of the crime family that owned the last three film productions for which she had worked finally caught up with her and attempted to extort a recurring sum from her, in exchange for not revealing to her employers that she had seduced and violently injured an actor and producer on the set of her last film which, though a lie, was impossible for her to prove otherwise. In frustration and anger, she attacked all four agents, causing three to be hospitalized for injuries sustained from falling out of a third story glass atrium. The fourth was never seen again.
Uncertain if she had killed any of them, but knowing that others would come for her, she fled Hong Kong and made her way to Amsterdam, where she met Markos Van Zandt, a handsome and talented performance artist. They soon discovered each other’s secret abilities, and Van Zandt revealed his involvement, as Code Red, with a group of like-minded posthumans, who sought to do what other uniformed posthuman celebrities only pretended to do: right the wrongs of society one criminal, corrupt constable, shady arms dealer, or urban terrorist at a time. Intrigued, and thrilled by the thrill, Ximen Ling joined the Intruders as Morphine.
Throughout the team’s short history, however, tensions have risen between Morphine and Code Red over the use of excessive force. Often the first one to act and the last one to exercise restraint, Morphine’s enthusiastic use of hand-to-hand combat has, in Code Red’s view, put the team, and innocents, at risk. However, her charm and persuasion among the other members of the team, combined with the simple fact that she’s never crossed the line… yet… has made her position with the Intruders intractable. Regardless of their personal issues, both continue to work together as a team, and Morphine’s role in the Intruders continues to expand.
