This was done for Roadkill's This-Week Jam, a weekly exercise where participating artists draw a character chosen at random at the beginning of the week, from a pool of previously submitted ideas from the members as a group. The sub-jam was part of a "Ultimate Redesign" project, and I asked for a request for subject matter, and received Wonder Woman. More info below.

As mentioned above, this was in response to a topic on the This Week board, 'Ultimatize a mainstream hero'... so I was given the request of Wonder Woman, the supposed Amazonian warrior princess and ambassador to the Western world, who was, you know, white, wore heels and makeup and a skirt (before the bike shorts,) and sort of slapped thugs around or messed around with the lasso of truth.

Despite contemporary versions of the character being a tough as nails, powerful, almost Superman-scale hero, with some hard-edged aggressive worldviews, I thought it would be fun to take it a step further by taking a huge step back. Consider the Amazonian tribe, being led by a mysteriously immortal and powerful young matriarch, an indiginous South American, with warlike, aggressively dominant characteristics... now imagine her introduced to the rest of the world by a Nazi explorer instead... brought up in that regime's fascist trappings, though obviously never relating to their ideology other than basic Darwinistic concepts and the thrill of conquest. The Reich is long gone, but she would be irrevocably formed by that early experience, and would therefore be an antagonistic force in contemporary continuity. Also, the truth lasso could make one hell of a torture and interrogation tool, not to gain information (as it's easy enough for her to do that) but to unlock the captive's greatest fears and devotions, to be used against them.
