TRDL 2012 Series No. 41 - The Man-Cat

This TRDL Cryptohistorical Redesign of Cat-Man supposes that Thomas Blake, a big game hunter ruthlessly butchering beasts throughout Africa in the 1880s, nearly met a grizzly fate at the hands of a lion in Kenya, losing his hand in the process of escaping the attack. He donned leather armor fashioned from saddle stock, partially to hold his serious wounds together, and slipped deep into psychosis, hunting humans in the Serengeti as the Cat-Man. I gave him exposed feet and hands (well, hand) and a metal cap for his opposing arm, and tried to give the face mask/leather helmet a catlike appearance through the lenses and the curves of the folds along the temples. The chest is open, with a large claw scar across the torso, evoking the modern Catman's old school chest symbol. This guy was a character that i used to roll my eyes at in the DC's Who's Who books, before he was given a serious storyline and some great art in the Secret Six book a few decades later.

The background on this piece was built from the blood splatter vector material here
